Meeting September 11, 2018
President Dave opened the meeting with the Rotary tidbit and quote, followed by the invocation and pledge.
Visiting Rotarian Rick Gromis was welcomed back.  Rick presented the club with a banner from his new club (Vero Beach, Oceanside, Florida)
Chris had Rick draw the 50/50 ticket from the basket.  Dave won but did not draw a joker from the deck.
Program:   The program was a briefing on the 4-way test speech contest.
Dave and Annette reviewed the schedule and club responsibilities.
Annette will work with Berks Catholic HS on promoting the  ontest and recruiting contestants.
The club will need 5 volunteers (3 judges, 1 timekeeper, and 1 teller to tally the scores).
The contest will be held in March and the winner will advance to the district regional contest.
The winners of the 5 regions will compete at the district conference in May.
Anyone interested in helping, please contact Annette.

Announcements
There are two openings on the upcoming Group Friendship Exchange to Northeastern England from August 29 to September 10.  Contact Dave for details.
We could use one more club member qualified for Grant Writing.  Chris’s qualifications are current.  He will let us know when the next District training will be.
Annette passed around a sign-up sheet for the September 20 foodbank project.  Please contact her if you can work from 4pm to 7pm.  Friends of Rotary are also welcome.  We need 8 volunteers.
Wendy gave us an update on the fundraising ideas.  She was grateful for the many she received.  Fred’s idea of a wreath sale for the holidays was discussed and seemed to have much support.  He will do more research on costs and get back to Wendy.
The date for the September 19 mixer was moved to October 3rd so as not to compete with the September 20 foodbank project.

Quote of the Day
“People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.  We can only see what we are; if we misbehave, we suspect others.
